This is the after, Slipcovered, yes, but also reupholstered in high grade muslin, re-padded and Velcro added. Ottoman to be permanently slipcovered, the Velcro, which you will see in a moment, grabs the tuck-in seen below the cushion.

The new plaid cover has hook side Velcro, positioned vertically, four 1" wide tabs per side, seen here, white color. Rather than line up Velcro sides, it's more efficient to cross them perpendicularly.

Say hello to my cell phone. It's dark in here ! The dark is really black Velcro. The Velcro sewn to the ottoman is 3" wide and continues on into the crevase.

This is what ottoman looks like without cover. This foam cushion will be easy to refresh with added dacron in the future, the foam comes out a zipper on the far side.

The previous upholstery situated the zipper where it could not be seen, quite properly...under the cushion, diagonally. You see that Right Side out. What you see Wrong Side out are the sewn sides.

Measuring existing cushion....I should have said earlier, the reason I go to all this trouble is the cushion top is very lumpy and uneven. I have already peeked inside the cushion. It's very high grade foam, though 2" too short of frame both ways. Loose fill wrapped around this foam makes the current cover look tight.

And this is what the old cover to that ottoman looked lumpy and not square. This is not fatal, and this ottoman could have been used as it was, it wasn't dead yet. But I am applying a lightweight inflexible plaid over this, plaid wants to be displayed square...and the surface was not square.

That quarter folded muslin is now open and receiving sticky velcro, back from the stitching area. This plan allows the velcro to remain hidden deep enough to not be seen. Why black ? It's not seen and the white made a poor photo. Matters not, not seen.

Remember that black dash cut away scene ? That cut away is now our pattern for the sewing line, NOT cut this time, only marked with yellow crayon. The creases are to center the allignment.

Base is now upside down, the cushion half is on the bottom, the cut area is what you see. The base is cut to help allign, the cushion half is left whole. You see pins and a raw edge waiting to be stitched.

Now stitched and laid on the ottoman in the position it will occupy to show you orientation. Bet you are asking if that velcro is hook and loop ? Half and half ? No, all loop. Though, yes, this would be one way to get a cushion to stick to an ottoman, no ? LOL

Air Lay is inefficient here, but it's all I keep on hand, so lots of layers, lots of glue.

Air Lay does have one plus, the thinness allows me to choose where I put more and where I put less. The sides needed building up, this got 3 layers Air Lay before the rest of the cushion got the full sheet. All that glue and all that specific attention will last longer than one big sheet bonded dacron. I didn't need height, I needed width only. A draw back of the knife edge style cover ? As I increase the height, I decrease the available muslin to cover my width.
